We focus on a Cognitive Behavioral Approach while always keeping the client\u2019s needs at the forefront of treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The basis of CBT is to address the maladaptive thoughts that trigger certain feelings and&nbsp; cause to react in a certain way that has proven unhelpful to the person.<\/p>\n<p>Through a variety of cognitive and behavioral techniques, we help the child or adult start to understand their thought process and patterns so they can start to shift on their own. This shift will inevitably create a change in their mood and the way they interact in their daily They are closed groups meaning they have a specific start and end date and usually last 6-8 weeks, with sessions of 75 minutes each. During the group sessions clients are encouraged to share challenges and accomplishments they have made in the topic area. The counselor guides the group through psychoeducation, coping skills and challenging\u00a0 maladaptive beliefs. Many groups work with a specific book that includes research based findings on the topic.
